Does anyone else get weird heart "thumps?"
I'm not talking about the early heartbeats that feel like your stomach is dropping, followed by a hard thump (I know pretty much everyone gets those), but I keep getting a really strong thump in the center of my chest, kind of like a very hard twitch. Occasionally I'll get a few in a row. Sometimes I feel them in my throat, but usually in my chest.
I tried to explain it to my doctor, he says it's just part of my anxiety, but it happens when I'm not feeling particularly anxious. Anyone else have this? Did your doctors have any insight besides "It's stress, ignore it?" Is it basically the same thing as the drop/thump (early heartbeat)?
I've been to a cardiologist, had an echo and three EKGs (recently, I've had some before as well), all came back fine, though of course, my heart behaved itself PERFECTLY then. *eyeroll* They keep saying it's harmless but I'm not sure they even know what they're dealing with sometimes!
(For the record, I don't drink or smoke, I don't take any caffeine or artificial sweeteners - they make me really sick - so I don't think it's anything I'm eating/drinking/inhaling that's causing them. I'm on a beta blocker and a ton of anti-anxiety meds.)
